Links for International Student Induction

  • the Shared Thinking approach ( http://www.sharedthinking.info ) which adopts a learning community model of learning for induction. Nick and colleagues did interviews with international students and "they really valued it for the way it got them working collaboratively which then helped their socialisation. It's a model of induction we've tried in Scotland and England and it went down really well."

"Shared Thinking was developed at Glasgow as a contrast to induction-as-transmission where students end up with endless people 'talking' at them and half of it goes over their heads and they know nobody after..."
