“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” (Carl Rogers)

Google in Education

Google have pulled many of their growing education resources together at their Google in Education site, where they say that their educational initiatives focus on three key areas:
  • Making learning magical
  • Empowering innovative communities
  • Building a foundation of technology and access
Sometimes Google just get it right - I think of their 'Don't Be Evil', just brilliant! - but here, it's just so brave to talk about magic in learning in the midst of our corporate institutions, but that is precisely what we need to capture and precisely what many institutions and processes are killing. Carl Rogers said that "the only person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn and change" and I think Google are at the forefront of  helping people change their view of how we might learn and helping educators bring some magic back into learning.
