“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” (Carl Rogers)

Trusting Google

It seems I'm not the only one to be disappointed at Google's decision to axe Reader - the outcry on the Internet was immediate and clattering, and especially on Twitter, where people's anger was palpable.

People have not been slow to point out some of the implications of our relationship with the great and almighty Google, either - which became apparent on the launch of Google Keep, a very nice note-taking app to rival Evernote, but first Tweets I saw basically said 'you can keep it, Google', with people being unwilling to trust their data to another app which might well be axed in some months to come...

This is potentially a big problem for Google - as can be seen from the latest gossip about the potential demise of Google Scholar - I couldn't envisage it being axed myself, but I don't know, and that's the problem - I don't know if I can trust Google or its products any more either. I shall use Keep, but on a simple everyday basis for shopping lists and tasks around the home, but not for stuff that I want to, er, keep for any length of time. Anyway, here's the Adolf Hitler meme for his perspective...
