“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” (Carl Rogers)

June 7th, #chinadiary

Several things have happened since the last entry:
  1. left Hong Kong on the 1st, Ken feeling slightly better
  2. arrived at Swatow (now Shàntóu)
Carl mainly describes his impressions of Swatow in this entry, as well as the work of the missionaries, which he most certainly supports. He is also sad to leave, having made some very good friends here.

Finally, the party is on board ship bound for Foochow (now Fuzhou) and perhaps anticipating a typhoon and still enjoying his experiences.
