“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” (Carl Rogers)

Reasons to be Cheerful (Part Twenty Nine)

'Summer cold' got waaaay worse, fever, barking cough - chest infection, so out of action for a drowsy week on antibiotics... which turned out to allow me energy and acuity on at least some mornings before the steady slow crash and burn from just before noon onwards, so I was able to beaver away at the model essay until the fog surrounded me. It got grim at times - floppy with fatigue, head at times in a vice, nausea a constant companion and a certain looseness in the activities of the rear guard... and not even being able to mitigate the b'dum b'dum with booze.

Still, fuck it, got some things done! Cheerful, dammit!

Crawled out of my pit of self-misery to go to first ever non-religious funeral service for friendly neighbour across the road. Wore new high-collar black nehru jacket and felt suave and cool in a funereal way. Somebody asked me if they could bring their car up to the main building. Thought I worked there.

Also, I worked hard and free on polishing my song for Ales Bialiatski and began to learn the modal forms. I also finished Blake's biography - I feel a bit pissed that his gravestone is so overlooked, just as he was in life - however, he has touched us to this day - especially with Jerusalem, our tribe's natural anthem... (oh, and there is a bust of him in poet's corner in Westminster Abbey).  I heard it just this week on KLF's Grim up North and on The Spirit of 45 (which, btw, is amazing, and should be required viewing for all those mean-hearted people who voted for this current bunch of self-serving aristocratic neoliberal arsehole managerbots) and was moved both times. So, here's the justified ancients of 'myu myu' and It's Grim Up North...
