“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” (Carl Rogers)

Reasons to be Cheerful (Part Forty) - and Review

A rewarding 24 hours respite at Grimsby's new Holiday Inn reading my supervisor's book on Heidegger and education, which really was an education in itself. Lots done and onion bhajis from across the road in the evening, along with speciality biscuits and the evening was on a cloud. Dad was just fine with the carers, apart from the clocks going back threw his world into complete disarray.

On return, he has more night terrors... but a glimmer of hope as he sleeps through the night after his new drugs - something to be cherished, for him and for me! However I now occasionally wake myself up several times a night after hearing dad shout my name in my dreams. Done this three or four times and it seems so real. Should start to calm down as I accept the new reality of uninterrupted sleep...

We signed more papers for incorporation with one less leg of our three-legged stool, which has now fallen off - this is a shame, but shall we go? Yes, let's go...

...and we go - and as if from nowhere the tlc edjukayshun project emerges!

Reading Heidegger's 'Origin of the Work of Art', I realised why I persevere with Heideggers tangled and tortuous text, and why his thinking is so important - it's because he makes the world strange to us. We're truly lost when we believe we have mastery over the earth. We have to recover the mystery of existence because here is concealed the truth of being.

Somehow, doing work in-between other things on a mooc about the digital audio workstation 'ableton live' - by turns amazing and frustrating (due to not having time to spend on it, really) but anyway, I came up with something to submit as an assignment: http://bit.ly/1PUtNVm

Review

So, this is where I think back over the last month and pick out anything of worth or just of note - I'm glad I still do this because, actually, I can't remember a fucking thing I've done, so looking back over the blog, it's not inconsiderable, really:

  1. An exposition on The Question Concerning Technology and also much much more Heidegger
  2. Beer and Six Feet Under
  3. The Manchester march against the tories!
  4. Doctoral supervision
  5. TLC BizdevdayII
  6. Presented person-centred model at Worcester Uni
  7. Played my songs and felt Truth and Worlding World
  8. Dead Twitter
  9. Learning ableton live and receiving fantastically positive comments on my submission
